As far back as I can remember, mama was always making something, gardening, cooking. I didn't know much about boxed cakes and packaged cookie dough back then. Mama made everything from scratch most of my growing up years.

Daddy was in the Air Force and we lived in Japan for a good while. Mama made these awesome Japanese dolls at the Women's Club there, on base. I was so fascinated with them.
I would stand and look at the details for, what seemed like, hours. Don't know what ever happened to those dolls but would love to have one today.

I remember mama making gingham dogs and calico cats. She made aprons and doll clothes, painted on plates. She taught our girlscout troop to make sock dolls, which we donated to a local orphage.

I bet she didn't know how proud I was  to have her as my mama. I try to tell her now, as often as I can. Don't forget to tell your mama and daddy how much you love and appreciate them. Just like our precious babies, we only have them for a little while.

Life is like a misty rain that comes and goes. Handle it with care. CAHorton

Love, From Grandma
We are a family who loves to have gatherings, make lots of good food and share creative ideas. We do  many events and special projects where we meet new people and have the opportunity to share recipes . We will be adding our own favorite recipes right here every week or two. Here is one that is sure to please anyone who loves hot stuff.

GRANDMA'S JALAPENO POPPERS

Soak toothpicks in water, for at least 15 minutes

Seed fresh or canned (I prefer fresh but canned works) jalapenos by splitting one side or cutting in half lengthwise and scraping seeds out.

Careful juice can irritate sensitive skin.

Stuff with either Cream Cheese or cheddar. You can actually use any of your favorites. Mozzarella would be good too, but I prefer less stringy.

Wrap each jalapeno piece with sliced smoked bacon, that is cut in half, then skewer with soaked toothpick.

Broil on a metal pan that is at least 1" deep as bacon splatters and you will have drippings. Leave under broiler until done to your liking.

Serve hot or warm, but these are still tasty cooled. I never can make enough for my guests. My family loves them and my sons-in-law request them at every celebration we have.

If you have folks and little people who can't eat the hot stuff, use chunks of potatoes. Raw potatoes broil well wrapped with bacon.

Yummy stuff, try them and look for more recipes in the future.

If you have one you would like us to submit,
contact:customerservice@lovefromgrandmashouse.com and we will  feature your recipe one week.

Thanks for visiting and remember The Door is Always Open at www.lovefromgrandmashouse.com.
Being raised with 4 siblings, you learn to
appreciate one-on-one time with your parents. I was willing to be with mama where ever she needed me when I was a kid. If she was sewing, cooking, or whatever, I was willing to help and it paid off in so many ways. I gleaned so much from her & learned things I use today. My kids learned many things from me that I learned from mama.

Raised on comfort food, handmade clothes and often, handmade toys, built character in our family tree. One of my sisters told me recently, that handmade dolls are a legacy that has been passed down for several generations in our family.  Friends and family are always touched by special gifts from the heart. Love From Grandma's House makes every single gift special.

My daddy played music all of his adult life. I don't know that he could read music but he could sure play and sing it. A bit of a ham but he was good looking, and talented. Hey, what can I say? He could play most every stringed instrument around and did it well.

Mama played guitar, wrote songs, sang, and still does. She is a multi-talented beautiful person. All of mama and daddy's kids were gifted with a combination of their talents. Those talents are still being passed down to their grandkids and great grandkids.

Family roots, the love of God and Country, Sewing, crafting,  good cooking, and music  are the foundations that Love From Grandma's House was built on. We hope you will visit often, and tell your friends and family we are here.

New decorative and useful items will be added regularly and all will be constructed with love and care by the family at www.lovefromgrandmashouse.com. Where the door is always open.

Bunnies are so sweet and innocent looking. These aren't like the wild ones but just as sweet looking and won't chew up your garden. They remind me of the time when I was a kid and we lived in Indiana. The corn grew so tall. I never saw corn grow like that before or since. Daddy was stationed there for more than a year.

A huge meadow lay past those fields, surrounded by trees in an, almost perfect, square. My brother, sisters, and I loved playing hide -n- seek in the corn fields and we always seemed to end up in the meadow where we would fly kites. Mama made those kites and would make sure we had a long string so they would fly high in the sky. She is the one who found that special place and for us kids, it was one of the best places on earth. At least, I thought so.

We
could  pretend to be anybody or anything we wanted to be in the meadow. We were out there with God, nature and our own imagination. I think modern times have robbed most kids of
using that gift much these days.
